The Call to Finish the Reformation
Breaking Free from Corrupt Doctrines
On October 31st in the year 1517 a young Roman Catholic priest named Martin Luther took an enormous risk. He ambled up to the door of the Catholic Church in Wittenberg Germany and nailed up his 95 theses.
In those days if you criticized the Roman Catholic Church you could be burned alive at the stake. Luther chose to take that risk because the church had become corrupted by the influx of pagan practices… practices that directly contradicted the testimony of the scriptures.
What was it that was so offensive to Luther that moved him to take that risk? The answer is that the church was selling the forgiveness of sins… a practice known as indulgences. In nailing up his 95 theses to the church door Luther launched a bombshell that exploded all over Europe and the world. He challenged the most powerful church-state entity in the world at that time… the Roman Catholic Papacy. Luther’s challenge to the corruption of church and state is relevant for us today. The same practices that were an offense to God back then are still part of Roman Catholic doctrine today, including the granting of indulgences.
As Protestants today, we are called to finish the Reformation – to discard the Pagan practices that have corrupted the Christian church such as doctrines like the immortality of the soul and sun worship. The purpose of this site is to remind Protestants that there is work to be done to free ourselves from the corrupt doctrines of Roman Catholicism. They still offer through the priests; the forgiveness of sins… called indulgences. They still worship on the day of the sun God, namely Sunday. They still teach that sinners will burn forever in an eternally burning hell. The latter doctrine is an offense to the character of God and must be corrected. This is the mission of Protestants who believe that the Bible and the Bible alone is the authority in the Christian’s life and not tradition.
